Having understood the implication of color and light to psychologically influence a person’s mood and experience of space, the goal of our project is to manipulate spatial atmosphere through reflected colors. Specifically, we do so by creating translucent louvres that rotate and reflect light into a 4’x5’x9’ rectangular occupiable room - the “Color Shower.” We then add interactivity by giving the user full control over the louvres’ angle of rotation, by extension also the color in the room. The user becomes the owner of the “shower” space through the use of a control knob at the center of the structure. An RGB sensor next to this knob also allows the user to better understand the colors they are experiencing. The colored lights provide an environment of atmospheric effects, nourishing bodies and souls.
